Carnatic Connections – Jyotsna Srikanth and Bollywood Brass Band
Strings meet brass in this new collaboration, bringing together virtuosic violin playing and funky brass and drums.
The show will feature solo sets from both artists, instrumental versions of film songs from Bollywood and South India, plus new material created for this tour. Expect your audience to be enchanted and surprised in turn and end the concert on their feet.

Join us to celebrate the 50th birthday of one of Bollywood’s most famous and prolific composers. AR Rahman has revolutionised film music in India over the last 25 years, and came to worldwide fame with his Oscar winning soundtrack to Slumdog Millionaire, featuring the massive hit Jai Ho. He has been compared to the best of Hollywood – John Williams, Ennio Morricone – and Michael Jackson.

Pakistani singer Rafaqat Ali Khan meets The Bollywood Brass Band’s funky drummers and 6 piece horn section, performing Qawwali classics and songs from Indian and Pakistani film soundtracks, from the Golden Age of Bollywood and beyond. Their CD together (Chaiyya Chaiyya) was nominated for the Songlines Magazine Award for Cross Cultural Collaboration.

Rafaqat Ali Khan is the youngest in a long line of classical Pakistani singers; he has taken his Sufi soul to Bollywood soundtracks, duetting with Alka Yagnik on hit Main Hoon Woh Aasman from 2007 film ‘Krrish’, and tracks with British Asian crossover supremo Rishi Rich.
