After doing a music degree in Norwich, Kay started musical
life in London with Maroon
Town (ska/rap) in the mid 80's. Since then she has
played with various groups including a 5-year stint with London
Salsa band Salsa y Ache and a time with Rai singer
Abdelkader Saadoun.

Currently Kay plays with Crocodile
Style street band amongst others. Recently she has been
playing with the Vortex
Foundation Big Band, which was formed by Annie Whitehead
for the London Jazz Festival 2002.
Kay is active as a brass tutor in schools and as a workshop leader
both alone and with The
Transisters - a women's street band and samba workshop group
(with Ros and Sarha) which she coordinates.
Kay has always composed and arranged and has done many arrangements
for The Bollywood Brass Band. She also helps to manage the BBB -
including managing the website - and to coordinate their educational
projects. One such project was Brass Fusion, which involved Kay
conducting youth brass bands at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.
